We at Yellow Pages United love this time of year, when business and tech trend forecasters look back on years before and make predictions on what’s to come. It’s almost as exciting to wait and see who was wrong and who was right as it is to consider the endless possibilities offered by new gadgets and services.
Our staff sifted through a lot of recent blog posts, articles and newsletters and found three big trends that will affect your business sooner or later, no matter your size.
1. Mobile Shopping – Whether you sell retail or wholesale goods, it’s likely that your category already has a shopping app of some kind. According to Flurry, mobile app usage increased 76% from 2013 to 2014. In the shopping category alone, app usage increased 174%. That’s a huge increase and not expected to slow down any time soon. If you sell online, consider promoting your products through one of the many apps available.
2. Internet of Things – This storm has been building slowly for the last couple of years, and with the increasing proliferation of cheap sensors and hardware, it’s only going to grow. Connected devices offer endless opportunities for business owners to increase their own efficiency and productivity, as well as to learn about and foster great experiences for their customers.
3. Mobile Payments – We’ve covered the payments trend on the Yellow Pages United blog before, but it’s only getting more and more interesting out there. Again, no matter what industry you’re in, your customers are expecting greater ease of use and faster payment options every day. The days of bulky POS machines and unpredictable credit card readers are soon to be over. Business Insider predicts mobile payments will make up 15% of total payment volume in the US by 2018. Will you be making your customers happy on the forefront of change?
