Carlos Velasco Wins Yellow Pages United Mark Smith Scholarship!
In December, we put out the call for college students to submit an original infographic showing the evolution of marketing from their parents’ generation to their own. After carefully reviewing our hundreds of entries, we are proud to announce our winner!
Congratulations to Carlos Velasco, a graphic design major at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, who blew us away with his “Advertising: From Mad Men to Hashtags.”
Here is Carlos’s infographic in his own words:
“Advertising: From Mad Men to Hashtags” looks at advertising from the 1960s to the 2010s in a visual array that puts prominent content from each decade front and center with a brief summary of some of the major changes, ideas and icons that affected advertising during each decade.
We were impressed with the creativity and clarity of vision his work showed. From the creative revolution of the 1960s to the MTV-dominated 1980s to today’s social media integration, Carlos encapsulated how advertising has managed to capture the essence of successive generations.
Carlos’s work has earned him $2,500 toward his college tuition. We can’t wait to see what he does next.
